The results of the competition leading the best municipalities that best met the evaluation criteria were made public on Tuesday 19 September in Yaoundé, during a ceremony chaired by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy, Planning and (Minepat), Jean Tchoffo.
The Program Coordinator, Marie-Madeleine Nga, the World Bank’s Director of Operations in Cameroon, Elizabeth Huybens, and the mayors of the various municipalities concerned were also present.
As for the criteria that led to the selection of these councils were budget management, governance and transparency, as well as the appropriation of the approach of the PNDP. “Given the results obtained, all the municipalities have appropriated the approach of the program,” the SG said.
While indicating that certain points remain to be improved, especially in aspects related to finances, he also announced that additional prizes of 25 million FCFA will be introduced during the second edition in 2018.
