Peter Henry Barlerin has been confirmed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Cameroon.
This confirmation was performed by Senators in a voice vote which occurred at the US Congress last December 2, 2017.
In his speech to congress last October 3, 2017, Barlerin acknowledged that governance was one of the issues which could slow or improve the development of a country like Cameroon.
For him, Cameroon which is “Africa in Miniature” is blessed with a wave of potentials which should be preserved.
Cameroon is the first country the diplomat will be serving in as Ambassador ” I’ll work with the government of Cameroon, the people of Cameroon and our international partners to ensure that elections in 2018 are free fair and credible as well as peaceful”.
The new US envoy who also worked as senior official in the Bureau of African Affairs for half a year has vowed to work with the committee and others in congress to advance US interests in Cameroon.
His venue in Cameroon is then considered by many as ultimately beneficial from the economic stand point.
