The African Women Leadership Trophy 2017 and the title of Digital Ambassador for African Women have just been awarded to the First Lady of Cameroon, Ms. Chantal Biya.
The ceremony for the handing over took place after a conference-debate Facilitated by IAI representative Armand Claude Abanda on the methodology that led to the implementation of the 100 000 women horizon 2012 operation and the launch of the Mijef 2035 project, of which Chantal Biya is the national sponsor.
Mrs. Chantal Biya’s humanitarian commitment has earned her several other awards in the past. President of the African Synergies Foundation against AIDS and Suffering, she was appointed UNESCO’s Goodwill Ambassador on 14 November 2008, becoming the first African Goodwill Ambassador of the Organization.
In 2015, the First Lady of Cameroon received the prestigious distinction of UNAIDS Special Ambassador from UNAIDS Executive Director, Michel Sidibé, visiting Cameroon.
