Hotels and restaurants in that part of the country can’t go beyond a 10% level of activity during the week and barely 1% of activity during the weekend.
According to the Cameroonian daily mutations, the Anglophone crisis is unprecedentedly paralysing the tourism sector in the Fako division of the South West region of Cameroon.
“Not long ago about 300, 000 tourists used to storm the Fako Division annually, but because of the present crisis, the figure barely reaches 2000”
The Fako divisional delegate of tourism and leisure reveals that many hotel managers are forced to send some employees on technical leave due to the fact that about 15 billion francs produced in the region annually thanks to tourism has been lost, thereby crippling revenue.
According to the General Manager of Fini Hotel, tourist should come back to Limbe as she believes the situation has returned to calm in the area “there is no problem here. We live in tranquillity and we enjoy our beautiful environment”.
