The statement was reiterated by the Minister Of Women  Empowerment and the family in a press conference organized in Yaounde this Oct, 15, 2017.

The Cameroonian rural woman will definitely not be keep aside as a series of activities will be organised by the Ministry of Women Empowerment and the Family in Cameroon under the theme “ Rural women claim your rights in peace” .

In a press conference summoned by the women empowerment boss, it was an opportunity for the Minister to launch activities marking the 72nd edition of the celebration of the rural woman to be observed worldwide this Oct, 15, 2017.

The event is a unique platform which seeks to put the Cameroonian Rural Women on the national spotlight thereby looking into their various problems , assess the path covered and shape better strategies.

During the press briefing attended by Cameroon News Today-CNT, the Minister Marie Therese Abena Ondoua while officially launching activities making the long week celebration was quick to praise the efforts done so far by government and international partners aimed at putting the rural woman at the centre of attention.

The rural woman is faced nowadays with a series of difficulties and challenges which include gender based violence, harmful cultural practices, enclaved nature of roads, difficult access to lands and credits and above all present days conflicts, tensions, uprisings and wars.

All these challenges therefore become extensively thunderous to the queen of the soil, the rural woman, an active contributor in the fight against poverty , procuring communities with food and educating children.

“ I will like to exhort  you woman, to take part in activities and trainings which will render you autonomous and make you leave in peace.. women want to continue their activities in peace, our motto peace-work-fatherland should remain a priority to all Cameroonians” stressed Marie Therese Abena Ondoua during the briefing.

Its worth nothing that the rural woman living in the Anglophone regions of the country has been faced with enormous challenges due to the recent socio-political upheavals, these events and unfolding are ultimately detrimental to the peace and stability of the rural woman, she therefore has to stand for her rights using all the available non violent methods.
