The statement was made this Tuesday November 21, 2017 by Eyango Djombi Desmond, Regional Coordinator for the Littoral Region of SYNES, the National Union of Teachers of Higher Education.

This outing follows the move made by lecturers grouped in the trade union who are today engaging on a five days strike in protest to the degrading working conditions at the University of Douala

In an interview granted Cameroon News Today-CNT, the coordinator stressed on the need for the Rector of the University to fulfill promises made a year ago “ the Minister of Higher Education should not be living Yaounde just to address such an issue, the Rector has power, enough power to resolve the situation, He should do that we learned that there is a certain 20 million francs the Rector can use to address the situation for about a year now, we’ve been waiting for a concrete move, our strike today proves that actions have not been taken by officials of the University”
